THE MORMON GOD ELOHIM IS NOT THE GOD OF THE BIBLE!

WHY NOT?

Our subject: God according to Joseph Smith or God according to the Bible.

The Bible states in Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Now who is this God in Gen. 1:1 according to the teachings of Joseph Smith and other Mormon leaders?

To answer this question I would like to use quotes from the Mormon LDS Collectors Library, 1997 CD-Rom edition.

The first quote is from the:

Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Section Six 1843-44, p.345

God (meaning the Mormon god elohim, the eternal father) himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens! That is the great secret.

Who then is the Mormon god elohim, of Gen. 1:1? He is an exalted man that was once as we are.

Journal of Discourses, Vol.6, p.4, Joseph Smith, April 6, 1844

Here, then, is eternal life--to know the only wise and true God; and you have got to learn how to be Gods yourselves, and to be kings and priests to God, the same as all Gods have done before you...

(Mormonism teaches that the god spoken of by Joseph Smith in Gen. 1:1 had a mom and a dad just like you had and then achieved exaltation or godhood.)

Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, p.576 PLURALITY OF GODS

But in addition there (the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit) is an infinite number of holy personages, drawn from worlds without number, who have passed on to exaltation and are thus gods.

I challenge each of you who are listening to this message to check-out the quotes from the Mormon Chronicles, to see for your self that they are accurate and in their context. I will gladly supply you with a copy of this dialog.

So then who is the Mormon god elohim of Gen. 1:1? He was once a man who became one of the millions of gods in the universe. This concept of God agrees with polytheism, meaning many gods, such as is taught in Hinduism, but in no way agrees with monotheism, the belief in the one and only True God of Judaism or Christianity.

Who then is the true God, of Gen. 1:1? He is the Eternal (meaning without beginning or ending) Creator who never had a beginning or a mom and a dad. He created all things including matter. The scientific laws of thermodynamics and entropy disprove the theory of evolution that states, matter is eternal.

(Psa 90:2 KJV) Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

The Creator of all things is not only eternal, but He is One God that is triune in essence and being.

(I Tim. 2:5 KJV) " For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" Also the Bible says in (Isa. 43:10 KJV), "Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me." Then in (Isa 44:6 KJV) it reads, "Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God." The difference between Judaism and Paganism was that the Jews belief only in one God, The Pagans on the other hand believed in many gods.

(Josh 24:15 KJV) And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD (or rather the God of the Bible) choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Will you choose the God of the Bible or the false gods of Joseph Smith? Only the One True God of the Bible can save you. Jesus said in: (John 17:3 KJV) And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, (all others are false) and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

QUOTES IN FULL AND IN THEIR CONTEXT FROM THE MORMON 1997 LDS COLLECTORS LIBRARY CD-ROM EDITION

Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Section Six 1843-44, p.345

God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens! That is the great secret. If the veil were rent today, and the great God who holds this world in its orbit, and who upholds all worlds and all things by his power, was to make himself visible,--I say, if you were to see him today, you would see him like a man in form--like yourselves in all the person, image, and very form as a man; for Adam was created in the very fashion, image and likeness of God, and received instruction from, and walked, talked and conversed with him, as one man talks and communes with another.

Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Section Six 1843-44, p.345

In order to understand the subject of the dead, for consolation of those who mourn for the loss of their friends, it is necessary we should understand the character and being of God and how he came to be so; for I am going to tell you how God came to be God.We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see.

Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Section Six 1843-44, p.345

These are incomprehensible ideas to some, but they are simple. It is the first principle of the Gospel to know for a certainty the Character of God, and to know that we may converse with him as one man converses with another, and that he was once a man like us; yea, that God himself, the Father of us all, dwelt on an earth, the same as Jesus Christ himself did; and I will show it from the Bible.

Journal of Discourses, Vol.6, p.4, Joseph Smith, April 6, 1844

Here, then, is eternal life--to know the only wise and true God; and you have got to learn how to be Gods yourselves, and to be kings and priests to God, the same as all Gods have done before you...

Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, p.576 PLURALITY OF GODS

Three separate personages -- Father, Son, and Holy Ghost -- comprise the Godhead. As each of these persons is a God, it is evident, from this standpoint alone, that a plurality of Gods exists. To us, speaking in the proper finite sense, these three are the only Gods we worship. But in addition there is an infinite number of holy personages, drawn from worlds without number, who have passed on to exaltation and are thus gods.

ACCORDING TO THE TEACHINGS OF MORMONISM, WHO IS ELOHIM AND WHO IS THE LORD?

Mormonism teaches that Elohim is God the Father and the LORD or Jehovah is Jesus. Is this true or does it contradict the clear teachings of the Bible? Discourses of Brigham Young, p.50, "I want to tell you, each and every one of you, that you are well acquainted with God our Heavenly Father, or the great Elohim." Joseph Fielding Smith, The Signs of the Times, p.97

Encyclopedia of Mormonism, Vol.2, JESUS CHRIST IN THE SCRIPTURES "Jesus is Jehovah come to earth as the promised Messiah."

The above statement that says Elohim is "God our Heavenly Father" is false. Elohim in the plural is translated God, for this is a term which represents all members of the Godhead: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

THE WORD ELOHIM IS PLURAL IN HEBREW
What is the significance of the plurality of the name Elohim? Because it's plural, does this mean there is more than one God? No! It certainly did not mean that to the Jews, so why would it mean that to anyone else? The Jews were a monotheistic (belief in one God) people in faith and worship, except when they rebelled against God and followed the heathen people around them. Israel was a nation that believed in one eternal (without beginning or ending) God who is the Creator of all things.

(1)The fact that the name God is plural in Hebrew does not indicate that there is more than one God. (Queen Victoria used a plural of majesty when referring only to herself. She once commented, "We are not amused.") A number of passages in the New Testament refer to God with the singular Greek noun theos, which is also translated "God" (for example John 1:1; Mark 13:19; Eph. 3:9). The plural nature of the Hebrew word is designed to give a fuller, more majestic sense to God's name.

It should be noted, however, that the New Testament clearly teaches that God is a Triune Being (Matt. 3:16-17; 2 Cor. 13:14; 1 Peter 1:2), and, although the doctrine of the Trinity is not fully developed in the Old Testament, it is foreshadowed (cf. Ps. 110:1; Prov. 30:4; Isa. 63:7,9-10).

Only faith in the One True God of the Bible can save you. Faith in the Mormon false god will lead to eternal damnation.

(Isa 43:10 KJV) Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

(1 John 5:7 KJV) For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word,(title for Jesus) and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one(not three separate gods as Mormonism teaches).

(I Tim. 2:5KJV) " For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" Also the Bible says in (Isa.

(Isa 44:6 KJV) "Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God."

(Josh 24:15 KJV) And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD,(or rather the God of the Bible) choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that wereon the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

(John 17:3 KJV) And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, (all others are false) and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
