Dear Fred from NY,
Next, let’s take look at Rev. 1:7-8 and see who is coming in Verses 7 and 8. Just as a side comment, it is interesting to see what the WT leaders did with Verse 8 in the “KIT.” You know what that is, right, Fred? In verse 8 they changed “Lord” to “Jehovah,” but in Philipians 2:11 they translate the same Greek word, Kurios as “Lord.” Could you tell me, Fred, how could any honest person do that?
Fred, if Kurios should be translated “Jehovah” (by the way that’s fine with me) in Rev. 1:8, then it should be translated “Jehovah” in Phil. 2:11 also, but WT leaders would not do that because it would compromise their position that Jesus is not Jehovah. So let's put Jehovah in Phil 2:11, for this is really what is going to happen on judgment day:
Phil. 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Jehovah, to the glory of God the Father.
Now back to Revelation Chapter 1 and who is coming is Verses 7 and 8. The scriptures will prove that Jehovah/Jesus, the Almighty, is the only who is coming in both verses. Fred, for your sake, I will use the WT’s version:
Rev 1:7-8 Look! He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, and those who pierced him; and all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in grief because of him. Yes, Amen. 8 “I am the Al´pha and the O·me´ga,” says Jehovah God, “the One who is and who was and who is coming, the Almighty.” Please note that it says that One is coming, not two as you were told by WT leaders.
The title, the Alpha and the Omega, simply means the First and the Last: Alpha or First says that no one is before Him, and Omega or Last says that no one will succeed Him. It’s a reference to God’s eternal existence and power. Verses 1-7 introduce the speaker in Verse 8. In Verse 8, the personal pronoun “I” tells us that He, Himself is now speaking. The speaker continues to identify Himself by using His title, The First And The Last, (in addition to many others) throughout the whole book of Revelation.
Jesus is coming in Verse 7; there is no question about that. The Lord or Jehovah, the Almighty is coming in Verse 8. How does one know for sure who is coming in Verse 8? One of the proofs as to who is coming is arrived at by identifying who is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending. The proof that Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending is here in Rev. 1:17-18; 2:8; 22:12,13,16 and 20:
Rev. 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
Rev. 2:8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;
Rev. 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Who is the Alpha and Omega and the First and the Last here? No one can deny that it’s Jesus.
Rev. 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. Jesus identified Himself as the Speaker. Who is the Alpha and Omega? Jehovah/Jesus, the Almighty.
Rev. 22:20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. Who is coming here? Jesus, the Alpha and Omega.
If one rejects the Old Testament revelations (especially Zech. 12:10; 14:3-9) that identify who Jehovah is, most likely he will reject the ones in the New Testament as well.
Fred, you cannot deny that Jehovah is Jesus, but you can reject it. I really hope and pray that you will choose the Bible position and receive Jehovah/Jesus as your Lord and only Saviour.
